~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ no TWHAS Talk in December ! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
OTHER TALKS :-
OTHER TALKS !!
As well as the above monthly TWHAS Talks, there will be two other Wednesday evening talks at St Mary’s Church, which are being organised by The Friends of St Mary’s and St Leonard’s Church. The talks are free to attend but there will be a retiring collection in aid of the St Mary’s eco heating project:
On October 21 our own TWHAS chairman, Steve Capel-Davies, will be giving a talk on his specialist subject ‘Life on the Thames’, which will include the way people made their living from the river by fishing, harvesting reeds and willows, working on the locks and weirs, and transport through the centuries including work in the London docks.
Then on December 9 Susie Wilmot will be talking about and lavishly illustrating ‘Nativity in Art” by investigating how artists have told the Christmas Story through the Ages. (There will be mulled wine and mince pies on offer too that evening!)
Further details from the “Friends of St Mary’s & St Leonard’s” website:-
Katharine Keats-Rohan is the TWHAS Speaker's secretary. If you have suggestions for future talks, please contact Katharine
If other local history societies would like to notify us of their events for possible inclusion (subject to space) in the monthly publication, TWHAS Now, then please send details to the TWHAS Now editor
